SPRIM Global Investments-backed Mentara Therapeutics has launched following its acquisition of the investigational drug EM-221, now called MTA-304, from EuMentis Therapeutics.
The company will develop MTA-304, a selective second-generation PDE10A inhibitor, for levodopa-induced dyskinesia in Parkinson’s disease. A Phase 2 study is planned to begin in the first half of 2027.
According to the announcement, MTA-304 has completed three Phase 1 studies involving 86 participants, with a favourable safety and tolerability profile. Its potential to reduce dyskinesia while preserving levodopa’s benefit has been investigated in preclinical models.
Led by CEO Frank Stonebanks and headquartered in Sydney, Mentara focuses on neuropsychiatric disorders.
